Deflective Dodge (Technique 1)

When your in-law's questions become an existential crisis, employ the Deflective Dodge. It's a technique that will make you feel like a ninja, minus the stealthy part.

Example:

In-law: "What's with your haircut?"
You: "I'm just trying to grow out the split ends."

This response is a classic example of the Deflective Dodge. By diverting attention from your haircut, you successfully deflected the in-law's question and preserved your sanity.

Don't forget, deflecting is an art. Practice makes perfect. Or, at the very least, makes you feel less like you're being slowly driven mad by your in-laws.
