According to our research, the universe began as a singularity of infinite recursion, with every decision branching into a new, slightly-worse version of itself.

Here's a brief timeline of our findings:

0s: The universe is born, and everything is fine.
1s-9s: Things start to get a little messy.
10s-20s: Humanity realizes it's all just a simulation, but it's not that bad, really.
30s-40s: The simulation is actually really bad.
50s-60s: We're all just floating in a sea of existential dread.
70s-80s: The universe has given up on us.
