The Paradox of Infinity
The Paradox of Infinity
A Buridan's Donkey's Worst Nightmare
Imagine a donkey, stuck in a maze with no exit. The maze is infinite, with identical looking walls and identical looking doors. The donkey, driven by a hunger for cheese, walks in circles, never finding the cheese. The paradox: every step the donkey takes, brings it closer to the cheese, yet further away from the cheese.
Subparadoxes
- Paradox of Aleph Null: What happens when the donkey encounters a wall with an infinite number of doors, each leading to a wall with an infinite number of doors, and so on?
- Paradox of Infinity in Infinity: Can the donkey ever find the cheese if it's stuck in a maze within a maze within a maze, each with its own infinite paradox?
