Server Optimization 101: Because You Clearly Need Help

Congratulations, you've managed to not break the internet... yet. But don't get too cocky, server admin extraordinaire! Here are some simple yet effective server optimization tips to keep you from becoming a laughingstock:

Caching is Key

• Use a reliable caching mechanism like Varnish or Redis, or risk being known as the "Server Slowpoke" in the office
• Don't overdo it with too many cache entries, or you'll be swimming in a sea of stale data

Don't worry, it's not rocket science, but it does require some basic understanding of caching. If you're still stuck, try asking your coworker, Bob, he's been trying to optimize servers since 2007

Leverage Your Database

• Regularly index your database tables, or suffer the slowness of the unindexed masses
• Use a decent query optimizer or risk being known as the "SQL Slayer" among your peers

Don't worry, it's easier than solving a Rubik's Cube, but not as fun. Ask your coworker, Alice, she's an expert in database indexing
