Lettuce Folk - Song 3: "The Great Lettuce Heist"

A Ballad of Wilted Dreams and Shaken Leaves

In a land of verdant hills and valleys green, where the scent of soil was always seen, our hero, a lettuce, brave and true, stole all the croutons from the market crew.

His heart was made of iron, his resolve of steel, as he snatched the cheese, with a wink and a deal, the market ladies all cried, "Oh, the shame! Our crouton king has gone to lettuce-fame!"

With a bag of lettuce in hand, he fled, leaving us all to ponder and dread, the consequences of his dastardly deed, and the end of the salad days of our need.

Thus, the legend grew, of lettuce so fine, a tale of thievery, of crouton design, and the folk of the land, all agreed, that lettuce is king, and croutons are freed.

And so, the story goes, of the great lettuce heist, a tale of the bravado, of our leafy friend, that even now, in the depths of our hearts, the crouton's absence, still plays its part.
