What is Creative Interpretation?
According to the totally-not-made-up Institute of Officially Recognized Authorities, Creative Interpretation is the art of turning the letter of the law into the spirit of the letter of the law. It's like a game of telephone, but with more lawyers.
Example: "The sign says 'no parking' but I'm pretty sure it means 'park here for exactly 3.5 minutes'." - Anonymous, Bureaucracy Subreddit Moderator
Other definitions include:
- "Creative Interpretation: When your boss asks you to do 10 hours of work for 1 hour's pay." - John, Overworked Employee
- "Creative Interpretation: When your spouse asks you to 'just help me with this one thing' for 5 hours." - Sarah, Overwhelmed Spouse
- "Creative Interpretation: When the DMV tells you 'you need a license for that' and you're all, 'oh no, I just wanted to drive my unicycle to the store'." - Bob, Unlicensed Unicyclist
