Committee Handbook - A Guide to Doing Nothing
The Committee Handbook: A Guide to Doing Nothing
Chapter 1: Meeting Minutes
Meetings are the lifeblood of any committee. And by "lifeblood", we mean the thing that makes your eyes water and your brain hurt.
- Agenda: The thing you make for the meeting, but never actually do.
- Minutes: The document you write to make it look like you did something.
- Action Items: The things you promise to do, but never actually do.
And remember, the most important thing to do in any meeting is to make sure everyone agrees that everyone else is doing nothing.
Chapter 2: Decision Making (or Not)
Decisions are hard. And by "hard", we mean boring.
- Spend 10 minutes talking about it.
- Call a vote, but make sure everyone agrees.
- Put it to the side for "further study".
And voila! Decision by committee, or not.
