Martini Mixology Basics

The art of mixing a classic martini is a delicate one. A true martini is made with just a few ingredients: gin, vermouth, an olive, and a twist of lemon.

But don't worry, we won't judge you if you like your martini with a splash of something more... interesting. Like, say, a splash of pineapple juice.

Gin vs. Vodka (or is it)

The debate rages on: gin or vodka? Do you go with the classic martini made with gin, or do you branch out with a vodka-based martini? The answer is simple: there's no wrong answer. Unless you're a snobby bartender.

That being said, if you do choose to go with the vodka, we won't judge you (much). Just remember, it's a martini, not a cosmopolitan.

And for the love of God, don't forget the olives.

A true martini is made with an olive. A single, elegant olive. Anything more than that is just showing off.
