Asian Barriers

The Asian Barrier: a mystical, ancient construct designed to keep out the West. Or, at least, that's what they tell you.

Legend has it that the first barrier was built to keep out the Mongols, who were just too darn good at invading. But little did they know, the real enemy was the spice trade.

Today, the Asian Barrier is a tourist attraction in its own right, with souvenir shops selling "I survived the Suez" t-shirts and "I crossed the Bosphorus" mugs. But don't be fooled, it's not just for show – the Barrier is still guarded by the most elite warriors in all the land.
