THE COOKIE LORE

THE HISTORY OF COOKIES

Cookies have been around since 3000 BCE when the ancient Egyptians used to bake cookies as offerings to their god of love and fertility, Anubis. These ancient cookies were made from crushed up wheat and honey.

Fast forward to the 19th century, cookies were the perfect snack for the industrial revolution. Factories were producing cookies by the truckload, and people were eating them by the handful.

In the 20th century, cookies went from being a simple snack to an art form. People started decorating their cookies with all sorts of crazy colors and designs, like sprinkles and icing.
