1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
2. Cream 1 cup of butter and 1 cup of white sugar. Mix until smooth.
3. Beat in 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of ginger, and 1/4 cup of rose petal powder. Mix until a dough forms.
4. Roll out 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) thick dough balls. Place on baking sheet, leaving 2 inches (5 cm) between each ball.
5. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
6. Allow cookies to cool. Decorate with royal icing, if desired.
