Empathy and Emotional Regulation: A Guide for the Emotionally Challenged

What is Empathy, Anyway?

Empathy is like a superpower that lets you understand how others feel without actually having to feel it yourself. It's like being a ninja, but instead of throwing shurikins, you're throwing understanding.

Cool, right?

Why Should I Care About Empathy?

Well, you see, if you don't care about others, they might just give up on you. And that would be a shame, because you'd be stuck alone, eating pizza by yourself. Again.

On the other hand, if you do care about others, they might just do something nice for you, like give you their last cookie or let you play with their fancy new toy.

How Do I Practice Empathy?

Practice makes perfect! Try putting yourself in someone else's shoes... and then take a selfie with them. No, seriously, try to imagine how they feel. Like, really try.

Also, listen to others. Like, really listen. Without interrupting or making fun of them. Unless it's a really good joke. Then you can make fun of them. But only if it's funny.

And finally, be kind. Like, be kind to others, even if they're being a jerk. Especially if they're being a jerk. That's when kindness is most important, you see.
