Also known as "Torture by Delay", this method involves making the subject wait for an uncomfortably long time for anything to happen. The key is to keep them guessing.
Step 1: Create a series of increasingly complex forms that need to be filled out in triplicate.
- Form A: The Initial Inquiry Form
- Form B: The Supplementary Information Form
- Form C: The Additional Documentation Form
- Form D: The Final Review Form (which is actually just a copy of Form A)
Step 2: Make them wait in line for 3 hours to get their number, only to find out it's not even their number.
Step 3: Redirect them to a different department, who will then send them to yet another department.
Step 4: Repeat Steps 1-3 until they surrender.
Example: "Sorry, sir/ma'am, it seems you need to fill out Form E. But first, you need to wait in line for your number. Oh, and by the way, you forgot to sign Form F."
Note: This method is not as effective as it used to be, but it still works for the easily confused.
