Phase 1, Step 3: The Art of Forced Smiles
As a Happiness Reeducation Specialist, you will learn the ancient art of faking it till you make it. In this phase, you will master the subtle art of smiling in the face of existential dread.
Objective: Smile for at least 30 seconds straight, without blinking, without breathing, without thinking.
Method:
- Step 1: Inhale for 5 seconds, exhale for 5 seconds. Repeat.
- Step 2: Engage your facial muscles and form a smile. Hold for 30 seconds, or until you start to think.
- Step 3: Practice in front of a mirror. Record yourself. Criticize yourself.
- Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 daily, until you can smile without thinking about smiling.
