Step 1: Pretend to be a Responsible Adult

Put on a tie, make some coffee, and attempt to appear interested in what your cat is doing. "Who's a pretty little kitty, who's a pretty little kitty..."

Make a to-do list to distract yourself from your cat's incessant meowing.

Remember, it's all about the performance. Your cat is judging you.

Step 2: Engage in Furtive Activities

While pretending to watch your cat, sneak in some actual work on your "important" projects. "Just one more email, just one more spreadsheet..."

Use the cat as a prop in your work-from-home setup. "Oh, sorry kitty, just a minute, I have to finish this report..."

Step 3: Find Ways to Bore Your Cat

Cram the cat's favorite toys and scratching posts into a corner, and then pretend to be annoyed when they can't fit. "Sorry, kitty, you'll just have to use your imagination."

Set up a series of cardboard boxes, and watch as the cat methodically knocks them down. "You're so... creative."
