The 6-Second Rule

When dealing with someone else's anger, the 6-Second Rule dictates that you should count to six. If you reach six, you're automatically cool. You don't have to think, you don't have to talk. You just count.

This rule is a simple yet effective way to diffuse a heated situation. It's like a time-out, but with counting. And if you reach six, you can usually just walk away, because you've earned it.
