Mandate 006: "The Unofficial Guide to Proper Coffee Shop Etiquette"
Section 1: Arrival
Upon entering the coffee shop, immediately scan the room for the most aesthetically pleasing seating arrangement. This includes but is not limited to:
- Seating near the window for optimal natural light exposure
- Seating away from the door to minimize distractions
- The corner seat, for it is the most coveted
Section 2: Ordering
When placing your order, be sure to:
- Speak clearly and at a reasonable volume
- Avoid using jargon or overly complex orders
- Be prepared to accept that your order will never be made exactly as requested
Section 3: Interacting with the Barista
When interacting with the barista, be sure to:
- Use a friendly tone and demeanor
- Avoid making small talk about the weather or politics
- Compliment their craft
Section 4: Leaving
When leaving, be sure to:
- Thank the barista for their service
- Leave a generous tip, but not too generous, lest you be seen as a "tipper"
- Do not, I repeat, DO NOT, leave your trash on the counter
