Interpreting Mandates for the Modern Era

Rule 1: Don't Panic

When in doubt, do not panic. Repeat this phrase to yourself until the anxiety subsides. Then, re-read the mandate and try to understand it.

Do not assume the fine print is fine. Read it, annotate it, and possibly even create a flowchart to ensure comprehension.

Clarify, clarify, clarify! Do not assume you understand. Instead, ask questions until the answer is clear. Or until you get tired of asking.

Do not create your own interpretations or exceptions. If in doubt, refer to the original text. Or, you know, just don't.

Do not add your own flair or artistic spin. Stick to the original intent. Unless you're an art student on a mission, in which case, carry on.
