Mandate 8.3: The Art of Properly Tying One's Shoes

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a person in possession of a decent shoe, must be in want of a properly tied shoelace.

But alas, this is not the case for most of us. We struggle, we fumble, we trip and fall, all because we cannot properly tie our shoes. It is a travesty, a calamity, a catastrophe.

Not anymore, however, thanks to this mandate. With the following steps, you too can become a shoe-tying master, a virtuoso of velcro and laces:

  1. First, start with a clean slate, or rather, a clean shoelace.
  2. Next, create an "X" with your laces, like the mighty and powerful letter "X" itself.
  3. Now, take one lace, and wrap it around the other, like the tender shoots of a budding vine.
  4. Then, take the other lace, and wrap it around the first, like the gentle lapping of waves on a serene lake.
  5. Finally, pull tight, like the unyielding grip of a determined person.

And voilĂ ! You are now a master of the shoelace arts, a sultan of the sole-tying world.

Learn to tie your socks, too.
But what about your shoelace collection? We've got tips on that too.
