Perhaps they were just too on-the-nose. Maybe they reeked of convenience. Or maybe they just made your beta readers' eyes glaze over with their overuse of adverbs.

So, you take a deep breath, and you kill them. It's not easy, but it's necessary. For the sake of your story, your sanity, and your editor's sanity.
