Quantum Fluctuations 101: Time
Time is relative, but your understanding of it is not.
What is Time?
Time is a dimension that makes sense only when you're not looking at it. Like a good joke, it's a punchline that's always a few milliseconds behind.
According to some, time is a river of nows, each one a fleeting moment of consciousness. Others claim it's a spinning top, spinning out of control. We say, who cares?
Time is also a dimension where the laws of physics are merely suggestions.
For example, the concept of 'before' and 'after' are mere human conventions, like the arbitrary distinction between 'left' and 'right'. But don't worry, we won't make you do any math.
On a more practical note, you're probably here because you're looking for an answer to the question, "What is time?" Well, we've got some time for you: What is space? is the next lesson, and it's going to blow your mind.
