You know the old saying: "Reread, don't read." Well, today we're going to take it up a notch and say, "Reread, don't read, and pretend you're still reading." It's a bold new approach, and we're going to call it... The Sudden Onset of Boredom.
Step 1: Find a book that's already been read by someone else, preferably someone who's not a close friend or family member. You don't want to risk being asked about it later.
Step 2: Flip through the pages at a moderate pace, making sure to look interested, but not too interested. You're not trying to get caught up in the plot or understand the characters, just get a feel for the overall flow of the book. Think of it as a form of literary reconnaissance.
Step 3: When someone asks you about the book, pretend you're just about to start reading it. "Oh, yeah, I'm reading this really interesting book. It's about... uh... something."
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3 until someone gets tired of asking you about the book or the book gets lost in a move. Either way, mission accomplished.
