Simulacra 101: A Primer on the Art of Faking It

Exercise 01: Building a Convincing Simulacrum

Objective: Create a replica of a real-world object that is indistinguishable from the original.

Materials: Cardboard, paint, glue, and a hint of desperation.

Instructions:

  1. Start by creating a 1:1 scale model of a real-world object.
  2. Use cardboard as your primary material. It's cheap, it's durable, and it's a good canvas for your craft.
  3. Paint your model with bright, bold colors. Think neon pink, electric blue, and sunshine yellow.
  4. Apply generous amounts of glue to hold your model together. The more glue, the more convincing.
  5. Step back and admire your handiwork. Does it look real? Does it feel real? Is it a convincing simulacrum?

Additional Tips:

For an extra layer of realism, add a few wisps of cotton candy to your model. It'll make it smell like the real thing.

For an added touch of authenticity, record a video of yourself holding the model in front of a real-world backdrop. It'll make the simulacrum seem all the more real.

Now, go forth and create! Share your creations with the world. Or, at the very least, with your aunt.
