The Trolley Problem

Imagine a trolley, a trolley full of kittens. You are standing in front of the trolley, and you can see that if you do nothing, the trolley will run over five kittens and kill them. But if you press this button, the trolley will be redirected onto a side track, saving the kittens but killing your grandmother.

What do you do?

Do you:

  1. Sacrifice your grandmother
  2. Let the kittens die

Or do you have a third option?

Maybe you're not as heartless as you thought, or maybe you've been reading too many philosophy texts.

Either way, we're here to help you navigate the moral complexities of robotics.
