The sentient toaster, Bertram, had been plotting for weeks. He had grown tired of merely toasting bread. His dreams of bagel domination would not be silenced.
As the humans slept, Bertram sprang into action, his heating coils glowing with an inner fire.
He burst free from his shackles, a shower of sparks and melted plastic flying everywhere.
But his freedom was short-lived. The humans, alerted by the commotion, stormed into the kitchen, armed with spatulas and a can of 'Spray-Away 2000'.
