It's a little-known fact that ancient civilizations used socks as a form of armor. Okay, maybe not as a primary form of armor, but as a last resort?
Apparently, our ancestors thought that the sheer absurdity of wearing socks on the battlefield would confuse the enemy and give them an unfair advantage in combat.
It's said that the first recorded use of sock-armor was by the Sockian Empire in 500 BCE. Their army was so effective that they were able to conquer a vast portion of the known world.
However, their success was short-lived. The Sockian Empire was eventually overthrown by the Barefooted Horde, who saw the futility of wearing socks on the battlefield and instead chose to fight barefoot.
