Phase 1 of Spacelift: the ultimate space elevator project. Currently under construction, but still in need of some serious engineering expertise. We're talking rocket scientists, engineers, and possibly a few mad scientists.
The goal is to create a network of orbiting platforms that can transport people and cargo between the Earth's surface and geosynchronous orbit. It's a tall order, but someone's gotta do it.
Currently, we have the following specs:
- Length: approximately 100,000 km (62,000 miles)
- Weight: estimated 100 metric tons (give or take a few dozen)
- Height: variable, depends on the number of passengers
