The Sock War of 1812: A Study in Heel

As historians have noted, the Sock War was a clash of cultures, with the Empire of France sporting brightly colored, striped socks, while the Empire of England donned dapper, argyle ones. The war began with a daring heist, as Napoleon's Sock Squad stole the prized 'Golden Argyle' from the English Crown Jewels.
The English, not ones to be trifled with, responded with the Socky Tales, a series of clever, subversive ballads that spread throughout the land, mocking the French and their gaudy socks. The French, however, were not amused and countered with their own Socks for the Soul, a series of soulful, avant garde performances that left the English bewildered.
As the war raged on, the stakes grew higher, with the Sock War turning into a full-blown Socky Battles minimalist, abstract, and often absurd_goals were the new norm. The war finally ended with the signing of the Peace of Mind Sock, a treaty that brought an end to the conflict, but not the fashion wars that would prophets for years to come.
