Cats, dogs, and elephants are all singular, yet somehow they manage to have plural counterparts in English.
Why do we have to worry about plural subjects, you ask?
Well, it's not like it's a big deal, but for instance, if you say "cat", but your friend says "cats", you might get into a fight.
Or, you might just get into a fight with your subject-verb agreement skills.
