Theories We're Debunking

Over-Management By Proxy

Also known as "Management by Remote Control", this theory suggests that the best way to manage a team is to do as little actual management as possible, and instead, just delegate tasks to underlings who will handle the details while the "real" managers get to focus on "strategy" and "vision". Sounds good, right?

But wait, there's more. With Over-Management By Proxy, you get to enjoy the benefits of being a high-level executive, without any of the actual responsibility or accountability. You can just sit back, relax, and watch the chaos unfold. Pros: Cons:

_goals and expectations are clearly defined, even if they change every 5 minutes

Employees have no autonomy or creativity

Managers get to focus on "big picture" thinking

Burnout is rampant, but hey, at least it's "managed"
