Forest Scent Bathing: A Technique for the Modern Human

Forest scent bathing is not just a thing, it's a movement. It's a practice where you immerse yourself in the natural world, but instead of actually going for a hike, you just stand in your living room and sniff the air.

Step 1: Find a spot with decent air quality. Not too many pine trees nearby, not too many dumpsters.

  1. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Try to pick up on the scents of the forest, but also the scents of your neighbor's cooking.
  2. Notice how the scent of freshly cut grass is similar to the scent of your aunt's perfume, but not as pleasant.
  3. Repeat this process for 20-30 minutes, or until you feel adequately forest-scent-bathed.
