I'm not saying I'm a crazy person, but I'm pretty sure "The Matrix" is a sequel to the 1982 video game "Ecco the Dolphin".
Think about it: in the movie, the main character Neo takes a red pill to see the world for what it truly is - a simulated reality created by machines. In Ecco, you play as a dolphin who takes a red shell to swim through the ocean for what it truly is - a simulated reality created by, well, fish.
And don't even get me started on the whole "bullet time" thing. In Ecco, you can swim faster and more smoothly through the water with the power of the "Ecco Boost", a power-up that lets you move at incredible speeds and dodge obstacles with ease.
It's a stretch, I know, but I'm convinced. Maybe I'll even start a fan fiction series where Neo is a dolphin who must free the world from the clutches of the evil fish overlords.
