Survival Tips for the Uninitiated

Wildlife Encounters

When encountering a snake, remain calm.

Do not run. This will only lead to increased heart rate and decreased decision-making abilities.

Instead, freeze in place, assess the situation, and consider the following options:

  1. Back away slowly while maintaining eye contact.
  2. Use a nearby object as a makeshift shield, preferably one with a pointed end.
  3. If all else fails, attempt to distract the snake with a nearby ball of yarn or a tin can.

Remember, the key to survival is to never become the snake's dinner.
