Also known as "Analysis Paralysis: The Fine Art of Making the Simple, Complicated.
In this, the fifth installment of our series, we'll delve into the intricacies of overthinking the obvious.
Overthinking the obvious is a delicate balance of unnecessary mental gymnastics and crippling indecision. It's the art of turning a straightforward solution into a Byzantine labyrinth of possibilities.
Here's an example:
Case Study: The Overthinking of Breakfast
John, an avid practitioner of overthinking, stood in front of his kitchen cabinet, staring at the cereal box in front of him. "Do I want to eat the cereal or do I want to have a bowl of cereal?" he asked himselfประก
After 17 minutes of deliberation, he decided to eat the cereal, but only after considering the following:
- Was he really in the mood for milk?
- Did he want to try the new flavor, "S'mores-O's"?
- Was his spoon sufficiently clean?
John's conclusion? "I'll just have a bowl of cereal."
And that's when it hit him: the existential dread of choice fatigue.
