Recording Studio Shenanigans
Recorded in 1975, this behemoth of a song took a whopping 22 days to complete. Yes, 22 days! That's 22 days of Brian May's hair getting progressively greasier.
Freddie's operatic vocals were recorded in a tiny room with no windows, while Roger's drumming was tracked in a separate studio, because, you know, he's a drummer and drummers are always separate entities.
John Deacon's bass was played through a Leslie speaker, because, why not?
And, of course, the legendary vocal processing was done by the great Brian May, who used a combination of reverb and a hair dryer to achieve that distinctive, operatic sound.
