Underwater Basketball players are forbidden from touching the ball with their bare hands. Any such actions will result in an automatic 10-point deduction.
This is not a suggestion, it's a rule.
Exceptions can be made for players who have undergone extensive aquatic adaptations, such as webbed hands, and gills.
