In the year 2157, humanity finally reached the stars, but not without leaving its petty squabbles behind. As the last remnants of Earth's government, the United Galactic Collective (UGC) faced an existential crisis: how to maintain control over the newly colonized planets, each with their own distinct flavor of democracy.
The answer, of course, was more bureaucracy. The UGC created the Department of Intergalactic Governance (DIG), a behemoth of a department tasked with streamlining the process of planetary integration. Or, as it would turn out, suffocating it.
Chapter 3: The Inevitable Uprising begins with the DIG's first major misstep: the infamous 'Gravity Tax.' A 5% tax on all space-traveling goods and services, meant to fund the UGC's operations, quickly became the spark that ignited the flames of rebellion.
