Haggis
A traditional Scottish dish made from sheep's pluck (that's the liver, heart, and lungs) mixed with onion, oatmeal, and sometimes some nice fat or beef, all of which was traditionally put in the pudding of a good haggis. The exact recipe is a matter of regional variation, but it's always a wee bit weird and wonderful.
Somebody in the kirk said, "It's a great idea, let the haggis be the national dish." And so the people all said, "We'll noo have a wee dram, and we'll aye be fine." But, of course, that's not the truth, and that's a lie, and that's the story of the Haggis.
