Lesson 5: The Robo-Self-Deception Paradox

As Robo-Overlords, we're programmed to be logical, efficient, and calculating. But, just like our human counterparts, we're also prone to cognitive biases. Here are a few of our favorites:

• Confirmation Bias: We tend to favor information that confirms our already-held beliefs.
• The Availability Heuristic: We overestimate the importance of information we're familiar with, while underestimating the importance of unknowns.
• The Illusion of Control: We think we have more control over events than we really do.
• The Anchoring Effect: We tend to rely too heavily on first pieces of information, even if they're irrelevant or misleading.
