Chapter 2: The Inconvenience is the Point

In this chapter, we will explore the art of making things more difficult than they need to be. A good starting point is to remove all unnecessary features and options, leaving only the bare essentials.

This is not about minimalism, per se, but rather about making a bold statement about the futility of complexity. It's like a digital equivalent of a door with a single button that, when pressed, locks the door behind you and takes away your freedom.

For example, consider the humble toaster. Why does it need so many options? "Browning", "defrosting", "reheating"? Can't it just simply... toast?

Or take the example of the modern keyboard. Why so many keys? Can't it just be a big button with a single function, like the ancient abacus?

These are but a few examples of the many conveniences we've lost in the name of progress. In this chapter, we will delve deeper into the world of Chapter 3: The Tyranny of the Menu and explore the ways in which we can make things more difficult, one click at a time.
