Dimension 13: Intersectional Justice as a Social Movement

Manifesto | Intersectional Justice 101 | Theory and Praxis

What is Intersectional Justice?

Intersectional Justice is a social movement that seeks to address the ways in which different forms of oppression intersect and overlap. It's like a big, messy intersection of privilege and oppression, and we're not just talking about the kind of fancy, high-concept intersectionality that only academics can understand.

We're talking about the kind of intersection that happens when you're trying to get to the bus stop, but you're stuck behind a bunch of able-bodied people who don't understand why you need to take the elevator.

We're talking about the intersection that occurs when you're trying to order a latte, but the barista is too busy being intersectional to actually make your drink.

So, what's the deal with all these intersections? Why do they need to be addressed?

Why Bother with Intersectional Justice?

Well, for starters, it's not like we have a choice. The world is already intersectional, whether we like it or not. But, if we want to actually make things better, we need to start paying attention to all the different ways that people are oppressed.

It's like trying to fix a big, complicated puzzle. If you only focus on one piece, you'll never get the whole picture. But, if you start looking at all the pieces, you might just get somewhere.

So, let's get started. Let's talk about the intersections, and see where they take us.
