Step 1: Find a valid reason for not doing the thing.
- It's not that important.
- It's not worth the effort.
- It's not in your budget.
Step 2: Emphasize the importance of that reason.
- If it's not that important, then why bother?
- If it's not worth the effort, then why stress yourself?
- If it's not in your budget, then why not make a budget that includes it?
