It all started with the Great Sourdough Uprising of 1987. The year was ripe with discontent as the artisanal bread community rose up against the industrialized forces of mass-produced bread.
A young breadwinner, fueled by a sense of injustice and a stomach full of whole wheat, took to the streets, armed with nothing but a baguette and a VHS copy of "The Breadwinner's Handbook" by Marie Guillard.
As the Breadwinner's legend grew, so did the notoriety of his unorthodox methods. His bread-borne philosophy of 'bread for the masses, not just the few' captivated the hearts and stomachs of the people, but also drew the ire of the established bread cartel.
