• Thermonuclear meltdown - Perhaps The Intern's lack of understanding of nuclear physics led to a catastrophic reaction in the toaster's core.
• Overcooked - It's possible that The Intern simply couldn't handle the pressure of cooking 37 different types of toast in under 30 seconds.
