Meetings. The bane of productivity. The nemesis of focus. And for what?

We gather around the conference table, sipping coffee and pretending to be interested. We nod and smile, all the while thinking of our to-do lists. And for what?

Is it because we're not clear on our objectives? No. We have a meeting agenda, printed out on 3x5 cards. Is it because we lack technology? Ha! We have projectors and whiteboards and enough PowerPoint to fill a stadium.

So why do meetings still fail to deliver? It's simple: because we're all just trying to get out of them as fast as we can.

So, let's just cut to the chase and schedule another one for next week. Because, clearly, that's what's really needed.
