In the year 2025, humanity is on the brink of collapse due to an unexpected side effect of excessive social media use: the collective loss of basic human interaction skills.
As a result, people are forced to communicate through a series of awkward, over-the-top, 3D-printed, robotic avatars that resemble a cross between a Tamagotchi and a failed science experiment.
These robotic avatars, dubbed "FaceHugz," are the only means of human interaction, and have become a status symbol of sorts, with people competing to see who can create the most elaborate, gaudy design.
As the last remnants of humanity cling to their FaceHugz, they are forced to live in sprawling, high-tech, underground bunkers, where the only connection to the outside world is through a series of poorly maintained satellite feeds.
The once-blue skies are now a hazy, perpetual gray, a constant reminder of the world's downfall.
