Debunking Burnout: Exercise 5.1 - The Burnout Bog

Located deep within the heart of Burnout, this exercise is not for the faint of heart. Or, you know, the faint of willpower.

Objective: To prove to yourself that you're not, in fact, a human hamster on a wheel of despair.

Instructions:

  1. Stare intensely at this page for 20 minutes.
  2. Repeat the phrase 'I am not a hamster on a wheel of despair' 17 times.
  3. Write 5,000 words on the topic 'The meaning of life in 4 point font'.
  4. Stare at the resulting mess and wonder why you didn't just take a nap.

Optional:

If you feel your eyes have turned to dust, congratulations! You've achieved Burnout Mastery! If not, try again. Or, you know, just go for a walk or something.
