Interpretation Techniques for Bureaucratic Forms
Because who needs clarity, really?
Are you tired of reading the same form over and over again, wondering what it's trying to tell you? Do you feel like you're being slowly driven mad by the endless sea of checkboxes and dropdowns?
- 1. Read the fine print (if there is any). It's not like we're trying to hide anything... or are we?
- 2. Assume the form is a puzzle. Maybe it's like a logic puzzle, maybe it's like a riddle, or maybe it's just a bunch of nonsense. But hey, who knows, right?
- 3. Google it. Because if we can't even be bothered to explain it, why should we have to?
- 4. Call the help desk. Because nothing says "I'm competent" like being on hold for 45 minutes listening to elevator music.
- 5. Just make something up. I mean, it's not like they're going to fact-check you or anything.
And remember, it's all about the process, not about actually getting things done.
