Modern Era (1982-1992)

After decades of bureaucratic stagnation, Department 42 underwent a radical transformation in the early 1980s. The introduction of the "Intranet of the Future" (IOF) brought about a new wave of innovation and excitement.

We established the Departmental Committee on Interdimensional Exploration, which led to the creation of the first-ever Interdimensional Portal (IP-1). The IP-1 was a massive success, allowing our employees to explore parallel universes and discover new forms of bureaucracy.

However, not everyone was pleased with the changes. The Departmental Union of Overly-Cautious Accountants (DUOCA) protested the use of "unnecessary" technology and "excessive" spending. They demanded a return to the "good old days" of paper-based records and manual calculations.

Despite the controversy, we persevered and continued to push the boundaries of what was thought possible. We developed the first-ever Departmental App for Mobile Devices (DAMD), which revolutionized the way we communicated with our citizens.

And so, the modern era of Department 42 began. A time of great change, innovation, and, of course, paperwork.
