The Veiled Insult Reflex
Also known as the "Backhanded Insult", this technique is a delicate balance of subtlety and cruelty.
When executed correctly, it can leave the victim wondering if they've been insulted or complimented.
Example:
"You're so clever, I'm sure you'll figure out what I'm saying, but just in case, let me rephrase it for you... again."
- Start with a compliment, but make sure it's not too obvious.
- Insert a backhanded comment that's almost, but not quite, an insult.
- Smile, smile, smile, while secretly enjoying the schadenfreude.
